ZwiftQuest Saturday – Race 3

ZwiftQuest Saturday – Race 3

Take an adventure around Watopia this Saturday January 20th. The aim of the ZwiftQuest is to navigate around Watopia to all the checkpoints in the fastest way possible or the shortest route.

You can complete all the checkpoints in any order and navigate to them by any route. Plan ahead of time, strategize your route or just go for it on the day, it is up to you!

Joining the in-game events will send you on a route towards the Volcano, just before the Volcano Lap Arch, the event fucntion will end and you will be free to navigate. Your quest will start when you pass under the Volcano Lap Arch for the first time (so do this first) and it will end once you have navigated to all the checkpoints and passed under the Volcano Lap Arch for the final time in your ride (don’t forget to do this). You can take any direction at junctions you want, make u-turns, use power-ups, draft and swap bikes if you want to complete the quest.

Join one of the events in game to get yourself started then navigate to where you want to go 👇

FAQs

Q. The “event” is really more of a warm up, yes?  Do users have to join the event in order to qualify?
A. Yeah a warm up, get everyone together before the mayhem breaks out and the u-turns start

Q. Do you need to connect your Strava to ZwiftQuest.com before the event?  Or can you do it after?
A. You can do it after the event

Q. If I’m so tired after the event and I forget to name my Ride ZQSAT20, can I change it in Strava after?
A. You can edit in Strava afterwards

Q. Do I need to do anything at the checkpoints? (e.g., take a picture, give a Ride On, etc.)
A. No just ride past them – the website validates that you go there through the GPS position of the checkpoint.

Q. For finishing, does it matter what direction I pass under the Volcano arch?
A. Any direction

Quest Treasure

Three ZwiftQuesters will be chosen at random from the ZwiftQuest events during the day, selected by Zwift to receive a full years membership to Zwift.

Sounds great fun. Question: who will win? Is it the fastest or the one that takes the shortest route?

      Both

Does it matter which order you complete the route— other than start/finish?

No it doesn’t matter, any order, any route.

What time will the events be? I assume one can complete the Quest on their own as well? (i.e. not joining an event first)

Do you need to connect Strava to zwiftquest.com every time? Or just once?

      Should be just the once

For the upcoming event can we make teams? If so can I make a facebook group and link it here/on the facebook page? (I’ve cross-posted the same question on facebook pending approval). I’d like to start Team Flatliners: we might not get shortest distance or time, but we will get shortest elevation! For this one I also think it’s gonna be a hard decision on whether distance or climbing will result in the shortest time depending on route.

But I’ve always found draft packs stick together best on flats and fall apart on climbs and decents, so…

Do you have to do this through an event or can it be done at whatever is suitable?

    • Jonny Noblett
Posted at 17:26h, 19 January Reply

In the event – there are multiple events on that should be suitable.

Also does doing the quest multiple times give you multiple entries into the prize lottery?

And are the shortest time/distances weighted higher/guaranteed to get the prize?

    • Jonny Noblett
Posted at 17:26h, 19 January Reply

Its a random draw from those who join the Zwift events and complete it. No prizes for anything else.

So if I join an event, I will not be guided throgh the course automatically, I have to choose route myself?

    • Jonny Noblett
Posted at 12:20h, 20 January Reply

Yeah you have to navigate yourself. The event you join guides you towards the start point – the Volcano lap Arch

Will we go as agroup from start to the volcano lap or does the event start righ aay at the vulcano?

    • Jonny Noblett
Posted at 13:09h, 20 January Reply

You roll out as a group to the volcano and your quest attempt starts when you go under the volcano arch

  • Per-Olof Blom

Can you out run the leader on the way to the vulcano, or is one “forced”into the group?

Very nice race! More such. Also with more checkpoints. A request to start a race without an event! It also makes no sense to indicate the routes of others during the race!

Hello, you can attempt the race at any time, you do not need to be in an event. Just follow the instructions for adding to strava. Good luck with the next one.

That was fun. I wish on the left side of the screen, I could see tasks get crossed off as I complete them, but maybe you guys could work that in sometime in the future.

Is there a delay posting the resutls? I registered on ZwiftQuest, rode the 2pm EST event today, saved to strava with the appropriate name and refreshed the resutls, but I don’t see my name or placing listed. Thanks

How quickly are results updated? I have finished my ride almost an hour ago and don’t see my name in either completed or failed lists. I have named the ride as instructed and had registered and linked my strava account prior to starting the quest.

Definitely helped pass the time, seemed quick for a ride than went over an hour. Really need some indication that you have made the checkpoints. Had the gps running though it seemed to drop out intermittently, pretty sure i made all the checkpoint but then my results show i didnt qualify, pretty disappointing…..

how long should we wait for the results to be finalised? I did the 19:00 GMTZQSAT20 quest, but I’m not showing up in the results or the fails, but linked Strava, auto-saved with the same file name as everyone else and can log in to MyZwiftQuest ok.
I know roughly where I would have finished, so not too worried, but would like to make sure I’m doing this right and am part of the group for next time

Hi Daniel, have you been able to look into this? Another thought I had, I’ve not got a smart trainer, just classic and speed sensor, are non smart accepted onto the leader board?
